Gas/vapor leak possibly from my car?

Post by TuffGong »

My garage wreaked of gas. Inside of my car smelled too. I put it outside and plan on following the gas line to the engine looking for a leak. Seemed to clear out of the garage when I moved the car.

Any other suggestions. I'm eating breakfast and then plan on going to take a look.

Seems the gas just expanded in the warm garage and hit the overflow...

did you have a full tank? Even so, this is not an unusual condition, to park it in a warm garage with a full tank. The manufacturer should have anticipated this because this is not a safe situation.

The vapors should be kept in the carbon canister and then cycled into the engine next time it is run. I would look for leaks around the filler neck (there is a rubber flex hose on the filler that occasionally goes bad, and at all the lines at the vapor canister. Also check all the fuel lines while you are at it, especially around the carb.

If it were me, I would not park it in the garage until you find the source of leak. and only drive it if you have to.

Good luck
