I know ALL ABOUT these having just put in my 3rd one since I've owned the car. The 2 that have failed so far...other than the OEM reg...were smaller electronic types.
The OEM was a mechanical type and lasted over 200K miles I guess.
Last one from NAPA lasted 15 months. Simply stopped regulating...allowing a full charge of 17 V.
This replacement is the mechanical kind from AdvanceAP....made in Japan. Hope I have better luck this time.
Alternator was replaced along with the OEM reg first go around.
