oops! left out spring in carb

Post by xirdneh »

I re-assembled a tercel carb this weekend and realized i forgot to install the accelerator pump spring.
Side by side everything seems to work the same as a carb with the spring intact.
Does that spring really need to be in there?
Since it is under the accelerator pump piston it would push the piston up but there is a spring at the other end of the piston operating lever that seems to accomplish the same thing.
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.

Put it in a ziplock bag...wait and see?

ok
installed it without the spring
ran a tank and a half of gas thru it so far with no noticable difference.

well, the accelerator pump is there to squirt raw fuel into the engine when you stab the gas to prevent stalling.

but since your car isn't stalling i guess its not an issue. I gotta say I'm surprised it's ok.
