
The pavement ended after it cut through the last dune before the ocean, and there was about 200 feet of soft sand before you could get to the wet sand of low tide. Pickup trucks had made ruts in it, but the middle was a bit too high for my tercel to clear. So I backed up about 80 feet, put it in 4wd, and gunned the engine in 1st.

I did several donuts on the sand, and drove up the beach some.
After I was done, I opened the engine compartment, and found it was full of sand; probably when I was pushing through all the soft sand.
