Dear.... God....

Don't ask me how its possible... I quite frankly don't know myself...
Filled up after trip... Know I filled all the way both times, know I reset the trip meter at last fillup....

41.553mpg... FOURTY-FRICKEN-ONE-AND-A-HALF!!!!!!!!! How in the realm outlined by PHYSICS is that possible??

I don't know whether to be extatic, or to have my car exorcised!
Of course, I'm clueless as to if it'll do it again....

my gas mileage has been all over the map lately....I've been trying to drive at 65mph on the freeway, but you almost get yourself killed if you're not flying along at 75-85mph here in TN. I got 30mpg on one tank, and then the next one was just over 27. It's been anywhere from 26-30 over the past month. I'm putting a LOT of miles on my car now...probably 500/week, or maybe even 600-650. I'm filling the tank every other day....and it appears that gasoline is about to go through the roof again

Whatever you did...do it again?

I got 47 mpg on one tank driving with a 25 mph tailwind all day and 600 lbs in the car.

My old 83 2wd Tercel got 40 mpg a couple times--highest was driving around a national park all week at 35 mph.

My current 4wd 87 doesn't get much more than 22-24--it's got emissions/carb issues right now that I just haven't gotten around to fixing. Sigh.

THINK MAN...THINK! What did you do that was different? The Seafoam/MMOil treatment???

Didn't happen to have tailwinds both ways?

Maybe they've gone to summer fuel already?

What brand(s) of gas did you use?

One thing to remember about doing mileage calculations across the border :

US gallon = 3.785 liters
Canadian gallon = 4.55 liters

So 30mpg in Canada = 25mpg in the US.

I get between 27 and 32 mpg . I have a 84 with the 3:73 gears so it does better on th freeway . I have to run 89 octane to keep it from pinging ( compression is 185psi) . I'm a bit of a lead foot so I feel that's pretty good for me . I think if I babied it and did 55 pmh on the freeway I could get 34 + . I curious to see how the 85 will do after I put the engine back together . I never got to actually drive it as it was only running on 2 1/2 cylinders  .

I got better in my 84 doing over 80 than doing 55-65.

I'm noticing she'll get uber-mileage spikes if I drive her crazy after 100 miles or so of soft driving.
