Some pics of the engine I built for my Honda...

Post by T-Bone »

These are some pics of my D16Z6 that I built up for my Honda Del Sol. I put higher comp pistons in it and had a mild porting and a valve job done to the head. The compression ratio is about 12.3:1. Very high but it runs good on 93 pump gas, but it does run even better on Turbo Blue gas. I picked up a 5 gal drum of it one day and dumped that into my tank. Big difference.

These are the new pistons, they are from a D16A1 (88 Integra).

VERY Nice!!! Honda engines are so well engineered! It's amazing how efficient they run. It's weird seeing an aluminum block though!

oh yeah, honda has awesome engineering with their engines. when i bought my new pistons I was going to balance the pistons and my old connecting rods. I checked the weight of all the pistons and they were the exact same, then i checked my connecting rods that i was reusing and they all weighed the exact same. i was shocked. later on i found out that honda pre-balances their pistons and stuff at the factory.

yep, I have D16A1 piston and rings in it. All of the bearings and stuff are from the stock Z6, same with the connecting rods

sweet, i was thinking of a b16 or d16z6 swap in my old 90 civic 4-door, but i have a 95 accord now :) I'm thinkig of an h22 swap down the road, can't go wrong with 220hp on a stock engine over the 145hp the car came with :P

the H22 fits nice in those accords. the accords and preludes have the same engine bays. i think you use the engine mounts from the prelude. but i could be wrong.
