4AC hunt

Welp you don't think it's gonna happen to you until it does, blew the motor yesterday. After a bit of grieving I decided if it's too much work to rebuild I would swap a 4AC. So who knows the best way to buy one? In the Utah area if that is important.

Caden,

I found mine out of an 85' Chevrolet Nova in a Kansas City JY. I believe in your situation it is a good improvement, though my experience has been minimal power gains and decreased fuel mileage. A lot of variables with the old cars, so my experiences may be related to other issues. The main improvement shared by others is better coolant flow through the top end creating less chance of head gasket issues. Everything from your 3A is needed to bolt onto the 4A block.

the 4ac came in corollas from about 83 to '88, and in the Nova that was the same as the corolla around those years. you will want to switch over the external parts form the Tercel: the oil pan (and the oil pickup!), the mounts, intake and exhaust manifold/carb, water pump and housing: all the external parts outside of the long block.
