Is this the correct cvs?

Post by Neu »

It's a pretty solid deal for a pair and I need to replace one of mine.

Do these look correct? I know there's a diameter issue with some of the cheaper/rebuilt CVs.

Hey Neu,

Yes, these appear to be the correct Trakmotive axles. Rock Auto has them for $51/each plus shipping, I would imagine it would work out pretty similar.

listing shows they are the correct axles for the T4wd. the issue with spline fit/binding is a manufacturing error, I think from one brand, and there is no way to tell if these suffer that problem, but it is actually rare, so they should be good for your car.

I bought a pair from rock auto they bound up trying to put them in. After a few minutes of comparing to the old ones I realized the retaining ring on the new ones was larger. Put the ring from the old one on the new one & no more binding. Look that over when you get the new ones.

Thanks that's nice info, atoyta.

I'll probably wind up replacing the seals, too. Does anyone know the socket size to get em in? Or any tricks/tips.

In case anyone comes across this, this thread had more info on the seal viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6484 . Toyota part number is 9031132006

There isn't a socket that'll fit? That's what i've done in the past is just found a similar sized socket and tapped it in using that.

I believe the seals have to be installed at a particular depth, otherwise it will still leak.
