1988 Corolla parts question

Post by dirklc »

A 1988 Corolla popped up at the local Pull & Pay. Does the '88 Corolla still have the 4AC? Or was the 1987 the last year for 4ACs? Also, any parts off this Corolla that would be worth picking up for a T4WD?

that should have the 4af or 4afe (variable venturi carb, or fuel injection). there are a few parts that are can be used to upgrade the Tercel, but I do not remember which. if it has larger dia front struts, they can be adapted to the Tercel for more dampening. the GTS and the all-trac corollas used larger dia struts, not sure about the standard version.

Thanks for the quick reply and thoughts. I'll check it out if I get over to the Pull & Pay yard this weekend.

the front calipers might be the same as the MR2 calipers that I use for the front brake up grade. if you get them, also get the longer flex hoses. unfortunately the vented rotors on the corolla have too large an offset to work on the Tercel hub. it could be made to work, but you would need a 12mm spacer as I recall, which means you would need longer wheel studs, so it would just cost more than getting a later model, '94 Tercel, vented rotor that only requires a 3mm (1/8") spacer.
