FB Marketplace Roundup

Post by JinsuElhance »

Heyo, new here.

Did some trolling around on marketplace looking for what was on the scene and found a couple interesting Tercels. I'm keen on buying my first one as well but seeing as I won't be back in the US until August I thought I might as well share.

Some of these may have been shared before as well my bad if that's the case. If anyone has gone to check out any of these cars I'd be super interested in what you have to say about their condition.

USA

Clarksville, TN - 1985 auto - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 6053921695
Sacramento, CA - 1983 man - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 7244316595
Bakersfield, CA - 1982 man - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 8089861423
Carson City, NV - 1986 man - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 3457999571

Canada
Whistler, B.C. - 1987 auto - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 2334191050
Revelstoke, B.C. - 1987 man - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/it ... 6848687660

I'd also be curious to know which of these looks like the best buy to the trained eye.

Welcome, Jinsu. I didn't bother looking at the automatics because I hate em, personally. Of the manuals, none seem like a great deal to me. I think the 86 and 82 (? - must technically be an 83) look ok but are way overpriced (which is probably why they've both been listed for months), and the 83 would be a good find if it didn't need transmission work.

I would steer clear of the 87 in Canada, it has popped up for sale several times over the last few years and apparently had some dubious history.

If I had to choose one, I'd probably go for the 83 that needs trans work, but I would rather wait for a better deal to come along.

Hey Jinsu, Welcome to the forum! I hope you can find your T4 when the time comes! I am searching through them all right now.

The first one being a 2wd auto, at $1600 is not too terribly priced if it is clean and you aren't looking for a winter car or a wheelin' rig. It would be nice if it had more pictures and a little more information other than "everything works" I have looked at lots of "everything works" cars over the years and have sadly been very disappointed with various minor (or major) issues, but "works as -is"

Second car, is sadly sold.

The third car, looks like a fairly nice deal! IMO, if I wasn't so far away, I would snatch it up. I have an 83 sitting outside with a good transmission but is completely rusted to the ground. It has the aluminum wheels, which are in great shape. I would like to see more interior pictures. But assuming it's in fair shape, I think that car would be a great fixer upper.

4th is gone.

the 5th car, the 86 is sharp! I like the 85+ gear ratio best. being pulled behind a camper, it's likely it has a higher odometer reading than it actually has ran. But it clearly has some rust and who knows how the underside is without seeing it.

Best of luck on your future t4 purchase!

welcome to the forum. keep looking, you will find a decent price, those appear overpriced. the one for $3800 appears to be all rusty too.

the one for $1500 could be okay, depending on what it really needs. the seller wrote "Needs a new transmission or rebuild Engine still runs" what does that mean? seller does not know if it needs a trans or an engine? if it needs a transmission, it is not worth that much. may only need a clutch, or an engine? wut?
