Hey all,

So I jumped the gun on the Cibie, it is undersized at 4x6, so I will sell it. I assume I’m looking for a 5”x7” from the look of it?

Hey all,

Any opinions on the JDM Koito head lamps with replaceable bulbs? Not as good as the Cibie??

Agreed. Their 1157's last decades as shown by most of my T4's. It's not easy to get good bulbs anymore, the part stores are loaded with cheapo crap. Only one of my local suppliers has Koito or even Sylvania for that matter.

Hey splatterdog,

So you're saying you like Sylvania or I may find Koito bulbs as well?

Order spares as they can burn out fairly quickly. Nobody has flashed me on low beams. High reminds me of the KC Hilites on my first pickup, snow, fog, or road signs hurt the eyes. Critter eyes can be seen well beyond any stopping distance and I think I've blinded deer enough they can't even move.

For just basic bulb replacement I try to stick with USA, Japanese, and German sources. Haven't looked to see if they have high watt offerings since Hella has that covered at a fairly low price.

Is this thread regarding the old style 83-86 headlights? I'm wondering about brighter bulbs for the 87's because last night I finally tried some expensive bright bulbs in my 91 corolla (which has similar headlights to the 87 t4) and am disappointed with the lack of difference. I got Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs and it's a whiter light but it doesn't actually seem brighter at all -- definitely not worth the much higher price, IMO. I think I will return them and try something else from rockauto but wanted to know what others have found for good brighter headlights in the 87's.

So I'm curious about LED replacements because Wagner seems to make a drop in replacement for these lights. I'm curious if they're any better or not. They're $275 from rockauto. Philips also seems to make a drop in replacement.
