I'm operating on the theory that the shifting "fork" on the 2WD/4WD shifter is bent or broken, or has jumped out of position. Does anyone have any advice, or knowledge to share about making this repair?
Right now the tranny is stuck in 2WD, and car seems to run fine, but I will need 4WD to function. The shifter itself is in the 4WD position. If I put it in the 2WD position I get nothing, it's like neutral.

Have you downloaded the service manual?

It should tell how to adjust the linkage in there, for a start.

If you get under the car...you can see the linkage and so forth going up to the tunnel...look for looseness and rust in the "box" under the lever.
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.
