I bought a 1986 4WD with 162K on it 3 years ago and just starting to go over it trying to get it back on the road.
It ran when I parked it and now will start, but not run. I started with dropping the gas tand and finding the 3-line flange bad and replaced it .
Question: Where the EGRV mates to manifold is completely blocked. How far would I need to go clean this out while it is apart?
Should I just buy a new EGRV or how long should they last?
Thanks -- Gus
Carbon in EGR valve
There is a writeup over in the Repair section on the EGR and cleaning it...and some info elsewhere. Some people end up having idling and running problems when they get it open...maybe the vac modulator?
Give a boy a gun-give a biatch a cell phone-and pretty soon you almost got yourself a police state.

i've cleaned them (its a hassle) and the cars ran the same as ever
same gas mileage
so why bother with it?
Love those Tercell 4x4 wagons but they sure suffer from road noise.
