What is the most rare T4WD option/accessory?

Post by The Professor »

I'm pretty new to T4WDs, but I've been in the Kyusha scene for a while now. I was wondering what other forum members thought was the most rare part for the Tercel? Was there ever a brush guard offered? Does anyone have period correct aftermarket wheels on their wagon?

Pics are good too!

Rarest of all: DLX with a digital clock and no tach (listed as an option, never seen it)
factory Sunroof
factory roof rack

yeah, dlx digital clock and factory cruise control. both are useless to me but they're rare as all hell, for sure.

also, included with factory cruise comes adjustable intermittent wipers. so i might include them in the rare list too.

The cup holder was standard on whatever it came on though, Dan.

Funny thing is cruise control wasn't even listed in the brochure, I think it may be the rarest of all besides the digital clock on a DLX. That and the adjustable wipers that came with factory cruise like you said David.

I have heard tell of a "fully loaded", only offered in 1988 model year, with power locks and power windows, also had factory cruise control. Never seen one, not even a picture, but I think I saw that an option in one of the brochures. They may have never delivered any, it was just a marketing attempt to keep an old body style "current" for the last year they offered it.

There was also an "off road kit" that I have seen in a few wrecking yards with heavy duty plastic skid plates that go under the engine and trans, replaces the front splash shield and also has little covers that go over the lower rear axle front trailing arm mounts. I have a full set I pulled off a T4wd in a wrecking yard, sitting in my garage. I have not decided what I want to do with it yet. It is not really heavy duty enough for rough off road use, but it might be fun to mount it on a "show car". Anyone interested in it?

we could also consider the japanese, euro, and aus tercels and all their cool stuff. fender mounted side mirrors, bumper mounted winch, electronic-controlled 4wd...

Does anyone have photos of the factory winch or the cup holders?

here is the cup holder. I got it out of a 2wd hatch back thinking I could make it work, not sure it will fit now becasue the 4wd tunnel is larger. Anyone that wants to try is welcome to it, $25 plus shipping.

The it mounts over the radio. Those are the radio side mounts on it.
