1984 Tercel SR5 - SoCal Car - Looking for a good home

Post by daroberts67 »

Hey Everyone!

Up for sale is my 1984 Tercel SR5. I purchased this car from the original owner over 4 years ago and it has been my daily driver ever since. I absolutely love this car and really do not want to sell it but my business is rapidly growing and I need to get a second cargo van.

This car has 222,340 miles and has been a Southern California car its whole life. This car was really well maintained by myself and the original owner.
There is absolutely zero structural rust and only a 1"x1" rust spot on the driver side A pillar and some small rust spots on the sun roof.
The sunroof is functional the only thing it needs is a plastic clip that holds the wind deflector arm down.
The Interior is in perfect condition, there are zero rips in the seats. The only issues with the interior are: Momo steering wheel is missing the horn button, 1 plastic door cup handle is missing, light sun fading in the upholstery.

This car runs and drives great and while it is not a speed demon the motor still pulls strong and the transmission shifts smooth. Based on my logs over the last 4 years I was getting between 28- 34mpg depending on how much city driving I did. I alsoused the 4wd on several occasions when I got stuck in the desert and it worked perfect in 4 LOW. (THIS CAR WAS NEVER ABUSED OFF-ROAD)

In the last year I had the timing belt replaced, plugs, wires, distributor rotor and cap, replaced rotors, pads, shoes, catalytic converter and installed a custom cat back exhaust (Has a really nice tone to it but is not loud at all). I will have 2 new front tires on the vehicle by the time it is sold, I had a blow out and am currently running the spare (I do have the other OEM aluminum wheel)

I drive this car every day but it will need several things replaced in the next 5k-10k miles. The clutch is as the end of its life and will need to be replaced soon, I live on a large hill and have no issue pulling out so it still has a little life left. Also the passenger side CV Joint is popping under hard turns and should be replaced at some point.

Things that do not currently work:
Driver side low beam just burned out
AC system is still fully attached but did not blow cold when I bought the car so I just cut the belt to free up a few extra MPG
The stereo stopped working a few months ago but I have not looked what the issue is (i think its only a $50 stereo)

All in all this is a beautiful SR5 and I get more honks and thumbs up driving this car than my 67 Mustang.

I am currently asking $3700 OBO, Please let me know if you have any questions about the car and I will post more photos upon request.

Beautiful T4wd. If you can, you should find the missing alum. wheel, with a super clean specimen such as this, little things like that really detract from those with the money to afford them.

Good luck with the sale.
