agreed, that stuff is no good. it's the curse of the '87-crossover year for 2nd and 3rd gen tercels.

Updated first post on first page with before & after pics. Also took a bunch more pics of the bare chassis if anyone wants to see them.

The front windshield is available now as well, thanks to some guy's internet video suggesting the use of dish soap as a lubricant on your xacto knife blade when cutting out the urethane adhesive from around the windshield.

you managed to get a windshield out without damage? Wow. I am impressed. I have tried a number of methods, including buying special windshield tool (which did not even work as good as a good knife), none worked, all damaged the windshield. The best tool I have seen is a blade for a reciprocating saw (a "sawzall") that looks like a large putty knife or spatula that has a smooth sharp edge. To take that to a wrecking yard you would need a cordless saw, which I do not have.

If the windsheild was damaged and you did not care, than there is no issue. but to get it free without harm to the glass, that takes a lot of effort.

you bought the town bike! that terc used to belong to one of the original moderators on the forum here, GTSsportscoupe. it had been on usedvic for a few weeks. that's great, i'm glad it's in your hands. i remember the vids of you 4x4ing in your last terc so i imagine this one will be put to good use. do you find it any more gutless than a stock terc, what with the giant wheels and tires? i have been curious about that for a while.

Yes, the town bike indeed! I've been perusing all the old posts and photos from '09 and such of this car here on the forum.
It's definitely got more jam than the deceased one (this one has a weber carb - or maybe it's that this one has cam lobes that aren't worn into a circle). So many things beat and wore out on this one though. It's a good thing I have lots of parts. There's a long list of issues to deal with (2 pages worth), but it is an iconic tercel4wd.com ride, so it must live on (until it meets the same demise as the other three I've killed).

the tires are P195/75R14 and the wheels are some VW derivative (audi? passat? I can't remember)

Here's a pic of the windshield:

Also, I picked up some 3A parts from a guy including this decent radiator (for std or automatic) if anyone needs one. (Sorry, I was too lazy to clean it off. It's currently a table-top for small parts...)
