Filler Neck 'Rubber part' available?
Re: Filler Neck 'Rubber part' available?
The plastic tube with fittings is working pretty well. No more fuel leaking from the filler at the gas station. I look stupid when I open the hatch, get the rubber tube inside the hole, etc, but at least I don't have money dropping on the ground.
Now, my car have an average of 11L/100km...I wonder how can a 1.5L engine, that I don't push at all can drink that much fuel. It must be running PIG RICH...Oh well, time to learn how to adjust a carburator. Timing is set a 10degree, didn't gave me extra mileage...

could be vacuum leaks. you should definitely be getting better mileage than that. check all the vacuum hoses for cracks. also check for a dirty air filter, dragging calipers, bad alignment, sludgy oil, proper choke setting...i've been getting poor mileage lately too, about 10km/L, or 26 mpg. i was getting 30+ mpg and am still trying to figure out what changed. i'll figure it out eventually.
btw, how do you figure out your mileage with the L/km method? 10km/L obviously translates to 10L/100km but i don't know how to figure it out otherwise.

Dave- Conversion is relatively easy,
To convert from L/km, multiply by 0.425 to get gal/mile
To convert from km/L, multiply by 2.350 to get miles/gal.
1 gal=3.785L or 1L=0.264 gal
1km=0.621 miles or 1 mile=1.606 km
Isn't the English system FUN!
How about a Furlong?-(660 feet) 1/8

Re: Filler Neck 'Rubber part' available?
sorry, i wasn't clear there. i meant to ask how to figure out L/100km. this is the form of mileage tracking that dealerships use these days. i hate it because it seems less obvious than km/L or mpg but i want to be able to calculate using it.
god, highlander, I KNOW--furlongs? rods? yards? stones? gee whiz. there's a punk rock song about being an unhappy american due to using the imperial of measurement and longing for the metric system that i posted on another thread recently. funny but apt! i hate imperial as it is, and i barely deal with it!

If you think that's fun, try the unit of Slugs for mass! =lb*s^2/ft-I always convert to SI and then back when I need mass, its soooo much easier!

Aren't Slugs those slimy animals? How do you get them to sit on a scale?

Lets say I do 232KM with 24 liters of fuel.
24/232 = 0,103448
Than I would get a 10,35L / 100KM
Re: Filler Neck 'Rubber part' available?
I'll see the carb adjustement and hunt for vacuum leak a bit.
I don't mind getting the car aligned,my plan is to keep this car a cheap but awesome winter beater.
I'm sure even if it's crying for help, bearings yelling, loose ti-rods, half of the car gone in rust, this car will get me threw winter.
Caliper are not sticking since when I put it in neutral while running, it does roll freely.
I'll change plugs, adjust the carb and hope to get any better mileage, or I'll live with it.

Yes, those are actually are our state mascot. They seem to thrive here in the wet, and can get to be quite large, up to a foot long. They even have an anual slug cooking contest in Monroe WA every year.ARCHINSTL wrote:Aren't Slugs those slimy animals? How do you get them to sit on a scale?

I liked the NPR story quoting the Idaho Farm Bureau member who worried about the soshulism of the Federal Gubment taking over and preventing him from doing what he wanted with his land because of the Palouse worm.
