From what I could pick up it's the 2000 or later 9-3s that have it the worst...due to a converter change. They are a semi lux car with good power and there is a lot a DIY can do to maintain them (good help online)...but parts can be expensive. Like $300-$400 coil pack? $300 for a neutral safety switch (dealer) and 2 hrs to install it? Usually lots of electrical issues. Real expensive to have the work done. Of course you own one...I just drove one 1x....damn car would MOVE...and I drove the 185HP version. They are going for decent prices....but there are reasons for that...issues of the SAAB company?...people getting into some serious repairs and costs. They can get good mpg..if you stay out of the turbo....one guy claiming 50 mpg or so with heavy driving techniques. Car is probably beyond what I'd want to take on....getting older or wiser.
