Get one of these...and aim it at the thermostat housing when car is warmed up?

I have one and it works well...top temp is 230F though.

A 185 degree will open at 185 degrees. If your heater is blowing hot air then your 125* reading is probably not accurate. When I bought my Terc two years ago the coolant gauge never got warmer than 1/3 up the scale and the heater wasn't hot. Turns out the thermostat had locked up when it was about 2mm from being closed. Just goes to show you the smallest failure can make the car run funny.

Just for laughs I'm going to hook my factory cruise control switch (junkyard find - my car doesn't have cruise) to the rad fan since I busted the original switch.
It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.

Like Petros said, don't put too much faith in a new thermostat. I put in a brand new thermostat and my car overheated right away. I bought another thermostat and now it's fine. The stock temp gauge stays right in the middle. Plenty of passenger heat too. And the car never overheats.
