I don't know which numbers refer to the differential, so here's the whole VIN JT2AL32W9H0293786. I've found yet more numbers under hood - 8D7 JA23 2312 A55F. I checked the site you referred me to but can't find the correct sequence of numbers ( a letter followed by 3 numbers) in either of these VINs that would give me the info. However, having learned about these codes now, I will make sure to copy down the info. from the donor car so I will know what sort of transmission and diff. I am now (will soon be )carrying.

the ring gear has 4.1:1 stamped into the side of it, you will see it once you pull the center diff member. The most reliable way to know what ring and pinion set are in the car, expose the ring gear and examine it for the ratio stamped in the side.
