teegee, congrats on sleuthing it out! (successful) troubleshooting is so gratifying.

user archinstl recommends http://www.toyotaoemparts.com. i've never personally used them and just tried looking up the tvsv for an 81 terc and had no luck, but maybe i'm missing something. try looking up the part # at http://www.toyotapartszone.com/ and then search the first website using that. with these old cars that aren't really collected or sought after, it's hard to find such specific little parts but i'm sure with some diligent internetting you'll track one down for a semi-reasonable price. no harm in asking toyota what they want for one, either.

This Australian member has a TVTV valve as well as a TVSV; our Gen II cars do not have the former. The Gen I OZ cars have the TVTV; maybe Mattel can answer for Gen II.
Since the Corolla (in N. America, anyway) has the same TVSV, maybe the OZ Corolla has the same TVTV as well?
