Did you get better synchros when you put the new gears in?

not to sure what they put in as i didn't do it myself. all i know is that it is stronger and smoother than most v8 trannys.

Hooray for old posts lol. So how costly and difficult would it be to add a 6th gear? It'd be nice to increase mileage even more. With how much highway driving I'll be doing soon... Lol. I really like these tranny's though. I can hit 44 in 2nd without redlining... What are the ratios in there? EEL would be nice, but 6th would be much more economical. Besides.. Who wouldn't want to be able to have a 100+ top speed? lol.

And I just remembered... Clutch dust won't hurt your tranny oil too much, you'd just have to change the oil with a bit more frequency. Haven't you ever heard of wet-clutches? My motorcycles have them, as do some high-load transmissions. Increases life of clutch material. Only big thing to change in switching to a friction material lined synchro is the use of no oils that contain friction modifiers like graphite or the likes. Many oils should state whether they are wet-clutch safe or not.
