Restore?
Re: Restore?
I went ahead and put the Restore in the wagon....since I drive it the most. Currently manages 5 to 7K miles per quart...if I keep it under 3K rpm most of the time. So I'll see if it helps mpg with an engine in relatively good shape.
The can says to SHAKE WELL....I did...but there was still some gray gunk in the bottom of the can...which I loosened up with a bit of kerosene and dumped into the engine. It's got to be good stuff...it's blue.
It's NOT an oil thickener...about the same viscosity a regular oil.

Re: Restore?
1st full tank report on mpg after using Restore: ~ 37 mpg! Was not driving real easy on this tank...also had a stuck choke issue...and the tank was definitely full...to the point of overflowing. Typical summer driving would have likely managed 38 mpg. Highest previous summer mpg was ~35.
This is with an engine I almost always am using some kind of oil additive in...also had some Valvoline oil additive in it...which did not show a gain.
Engine does seem to run smoother and have a bit more power...but this is seat of pants stuff...the mpg number is "proof".

Re: Restore?
Wow, that is amazing. This stuff goes in the crank case? how many miles on your engine? Do you have to add it again with each oil change? Let see what your next tank gives you to see it this tank full was just an anomaly. Lets also see what it does after you change the oil-will it stay good, or does it drop back to what it was before the Restore was added. It is difficult to believe an oil additive could make that much difference.
If your next few tanks are the same perhaps I will give that a try.

Re: Restore?
As an update, after 3 full tanks of gas since adding Restore, I'm averaging just a little bit under 30 mpg, like 29.7mpg; this from an engine that burns a quart of oil every 1500 miles. And during mountain driving, not commuting in the flat lands, driving at moderate speeds up and down (and up and down) maybe 4000' vertical feet in elevation, spending lots of time driving in 3rd gear, high rpms, behind pokey tourists...averaging 100 miles round trip. In the past, this type of summer driving in my car resulted in milages around 24-26 mpg. Since I still have not cleaned or replaced the sparkplugs, cleaned up the carb, or done any other tuneup procedure since I added Restore, I can only suggest the Restore is making the difference in mpg. Engine really does seem to run smoother and a bit quieter as well.
The real test will be to see if changing the plugs makes more of a difference; maybe I will do that in a couple weeks just to see if I can squeeze a little more mpg. I'm still 1500 miles away from a regular oil change.

Re: Restore?
So, how many miles are on the engine? did the restore reduce the oil burn at all?

Re: Restore?
I've had a noticeable but small decrease in oil consumption; I'm hoping oil consumption will diminish even more thruout this first use of the stuff. Engine sounds very smooth considering it has 318, 500 miles on it, without a rebuild.

I found this bit on Restore after a search where the guy used a thickener in the summer to reduce oil use...and Restore in the winter. I think you could use BOTH in summer.
He also mentioned a 10-12% mpg gain and he said that his mileage remained the same for around 4000 miles AFTER he stopped using it. So I'm thinking a full can to start and maybe 1/2 can after that?
I'm also going to throw a can in my truck...it needs it more.
My mpg results are on mostly level ground at at around 1000 ft elevation...over a tank...driving conditions are usually about the same as far as wind and so forth....main variation is winter and summer.

Re: Restore?
Coming to the conclusion that the engine in my car...even though it doesn't use much oil...probably had weak compression in a couple of cylinders. Seems that at least some of what I thought might be axle slop under acceleration in 3rd gear in warm weather...might have been poor cylinder pressures under higher throttle settings. Since I didn't test it...can't say for sure.

Re: Restore?
Last tank came in at 38.7...but previous tank was much lower. Looks like it's working...unless I got a short fill.

Re: Restore?
I'm still averaging about 29.5 mpg in mountain highway driving, not a bad improvement overall. I'm also coming up on an oil change next month, and winter is coming soon, too. It'll be interesting to see how the car behaves, mileage-wise, with the Restore during ski season.

Re: Restore?
I'm going to consider using 1/2 a 4 cylinder can...one guy claims the mpg gain lasts for 4000 miles after you stop using it....won't likely change oil till spring though. Also have Restore in my truck...but it's a 2.4 L 4 cyl vs 1.5 for the Terc....so far not much of a gain. If the mpg stays up and is confirmed over time...I'll keep using it.
