Sorry, its easy to get off subject here.

The yoke I was talking about is for the center bearing of the driveshaft. Did you check to see if the driveshaft is hitting the exhaust pipe?

Wheel bearing don't usually make a metal on metal sound, mostly they make a loud roar. Metal on metal would be either something hitting the driveshaft or something inside the brake drum, or something inside the rear end itself.

It's easy to put that center bearing in upside down...don't ask how I know.

Yes, but you are looking for clearance between the drive shaft and the exhaust pipe. Should be about 1/2" to 1" where the exhaust crosses under the exhaust pipe.

New bearings and the noise is gone....

Thanks for all your help guys. I would strongly recommend getting new rear wheel bearings for anyone over 200,000 miles

A little late...but the best test for rear bearings is to remove BOTH drums and check them for looseness...end play and radial play...and to turn them and listen for rumble or roughness. I think.

I agree because my left bearing had lots of play in it. For what it costs it is a good idea i think just to change them
