I forgot that one was from down under. it may be a tach connection, or maybe not. You can add one, you just need to tape into the where the would be a signal. All the tach does it does is 'count' the electrical pulses, anywhere you can run a wire that would have that would make the tach work. Perhaps compare the wire diagram of where the tach gets its signal and just copy it.
Ours has an unused extra connector that comes with a plastic cap on it, it might be for diagnostic purposed, or for some other optional equipment that our cars never came with (I have never seen it used in any North American Tercels). Our power supply connector to the distributor has two contacts, one is 12v, the other is the tach signal wire which is there even if there is no tach in the car. Also, both the unused connector and the powersupply/tach signal connector are round.
