I have considered an electric tercel wagon for fun.

As detailed in Matt's thread, I sent Mr. Mustoe an email back in 2007 with questions, but he never responded.

I've been fantasizing about converting to electric as well. I posted this local link a couple of years ago:http://members.shaw.ca/Craig-C/AboutEH.html
I'm sure the design is pretty outdated by now (I don't know how old the website is), but it's neat that he (she?) used a Tercel wagon. I wonder if it would be possible to create a hybrid by attaching an electric motor to the rear differential output shaft to drive the rear wheels and leaving the gas engine driving the front wheels.

well don't tamper like that with a Tercel4wd, do with a 2wd (which weighs less anyway). Or better yet, use a Yugo or a Colt or even a Neon or focus, something no one cares about. A honda civic HF would be a nice light weight car to start with. The tercel4wd is heavy to start, and it has too many other good features and is too desirable to butcher like that.

That is about the most hokey thing I have ever seen.
Not saying anything negative, its just, I dunno weird.
It takes more fossil fuel resources to produce new vehicles than it would take to maintain and fuel any 70's or 80's vehicle for a million miles.
