Petros wrote:you could try jacking it up so at least one back wheel is off the ground, on a jack stand, trans in neutral and not in 4wd, and have someone put resistance on the drive shaft by hand, and someone turn the tire putting hand pressure on the drive train. sometimes if the diff has a bad spot you can feel a "clunk" every time it goes around. .
i lifted both rear wheels off the ground and did this test i couldn't get a clunk out of it but i did notice the rear passenger is very difficult to spin whether holding the drive shaft in place or not, definitely doesn't feel right. and while holding the drive shaft in place and spinning the rear drive side the wheel would bind just before a full rotation and i would have to fight the wheel past it each time. not sure if it is the source of the sound but there seems to be an issue of some sort.

pulled the rear axle apart and did a visual inspection of all the gears, no missing teeth spins nice and easy axle shafts are in good shape but the bearings are a little rough gonna replace those, i dont think they are the source of the clacking noise. pulling the transmission today hopefully its something broken in the clutch or else its the transmission and i will be asking the fine gentlemen of this forum for a replacement for sale
