86 Tercel DLX 3AC dieing at stop light. Help please?

i bought that one too, have yet to install it since I replaced my engine with a fresh 4ac and have no blow by now. it just goes between the valve cover and the air filter, the side that is supposed to flow out from the valve cover.

UPDATE:
Installed the catch can. She runs a lot better BUT oil is blowing out the top of catch can. Should I really be looking into an engine rebuild now?

sounds likely. do a compression test first and let us know what you find.

I drove for a few weeks with a one gallon jug as an oil catch can. everyday I would put the oil back into the engine from the catch can to recycle it (better than blowing all over the engine compartment and on the ground). I did a compression check and my #4 cylinder had very very low compression. so I replaced the engine with a fresh rebuilt 4ac soon after. I have not taken apart the old engine to see what caused it, likely broken rings since the piston top looks okay.
