Indeed! That car belongs to a friend of mine, and my sedan was used to shoot some of the interior shots!

Ha! brilliant. I've also got my Corolla Alltrac registered with a Melbourne Car Wrangler. BTW our car industry in Australia has now finished making cars here. Its quite devestating to the manufacturing although there will be some engineering and design presence still.

Hemmings had a story last month on the closure: https://www.hemmings.com/blog/2017/10/1 ... ge-museum/
Story from Reuters: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-hold ... SKBN1CP0JB

With Toy and Ford shutting down last year as well - how many thousands of jobs were lost bwtween the three? Plus, I guess, all Holden dealers eventually shuttering?

OT to Mattel's post, but...after my '83 T4WD died in late 1985 (Thanks, Li' Sis!), I looked at the 5-door Camry and the 5-door 626. I wanted the hatch because the youngest daughter was still racing bicycles around the Midwest and I could eliminate the T4WD's o/s rack. The 626 eventually won, because a lot of aero add-ons were available.

Getting so close. Today was final surfacing sign-off for paint. The workmanship is quite lovely. I did have to send it back to address a missing micro fillet behind the rear door. This poor car has been through so much that they lost the fillet that leads from the door to the C Pillar and, while it’s a small detail, it would have a massive visual effect if its kit corrected.

But they were happy to make the adjustment. See photos for better description.

Nice catch, especially before paint. Definitely needed correction. Too bad they didn't compare with the good side first.

Nothing personal, but keep your 2 babies far away from the rust belt for all future winters please. :)

Such a nice match. The silver on these cars had a super fine metallic grain which was innovative in the eighties. They got it perfectly.

And, YAY fillet!!

We discovered an issue today where the driver side rear door will never quite align perfectly because of the accident back in 1986. But it’s not major and I think it’s okay; part of the car’s unique personality.

To correct it by another 5mm would mean cutting the car almost in half, so I think retaining the quirk can out way the time and cost of that!

perhaps you can shim the hing mount to fix it? May also take relocating the part of the lock on the door jamb side.

Correct! I think that’s how they’re getting it as close as possible. Fortunately, those window surrounds are going to be black.

Well, folks, she’s painted!

It’s so nice to collaborate with someone who has excellent craftsmanship and pride in their work. Peter at Fix Auto has taken my restoration beyond what I could’ve hoped for.
