Has anyone had any luck matching the gold paint from 1984? I've read all the threads here. The problem I see is that the code given on the Toyota reference site as 4c3 doesn't match what 4c3 is on the purchase site.
Toyota reference says that classic gold is 4c3
(http://www.toyotareference.com/4C3_toyo ... an19831983)
However, 4c3 on automotivetouchup is described as light brown
(http://www.automotivetouchup.com/touch- ... /?code=4C3)
Any advice?

Re: Gold paint code for 84
I ordered my paint from automotivetouchup based on what Toyota reference said it was and it ended up a perfect match. It took a few days for the color to cure to the dull blue. It sprayed on as a brighter blue but settled down after about a week. I imagine that even though automotivetouchup is calling it light brown, it is likely the right color.
I still need to do the stripes. But with all this ash in the air from the forest fires I haven't been able to.

Ok, I'll give it a shot.
Re: Gold paint code for 84
Well the problem is that toyota reference says it's Gold Metallic 4c3, while automotivetouchup has 4c3 light brown and 4e1 Gold Metallic. So do I go with the code or name at automotivetouchup...what to do what to do... I'll go with the code.

Ok, problem solved. I think Toyotareference is wrong. I finally found the code on the metal plate on the firewall. It's 4E1, which is gold metallic on the autotouchup site.

My gold '84 is 4E1 as well. Toyota calls it "Light Topaz Metallic". I've had mixed results getting it matched at various paint shops. They all end up slightly different.
