Thanks for the link, Typrus. Tell me about this carb ? I've been thinking the last couple weeks, since I got mine back together and the timing straightened out , that something still isn't quite right, and that it may be time for a new carb. or a carb. rebuild. Will that Weber fit the Terc's ?? What's a reasonable price for it ??

My car idles now at 800-900 RPMs, right where it should according to factory specs....BUT, it's not a smooth idle at all, and it smells like it's either burning too much fuel or something.....actually, you know the smell when a car is diesling ?? that's it . My mileage has been around 30-32mpg, consisting of some stop and go driving, but a lot of highway miles running about 60-75 miles per hour, with the windows down.

Any ideas ?? Anybody else here have any suggestions ?? I'm going to do some research on the carb. rebuild threads, too. Any help is greatly appreciated !!

Yes, it will fit with an adapter plate. Look for Dust Magnets writeup.
$75 is great. New its $450 with the adapter included.

Where would I find the adapter plate ?? Is it readily available from NAPA or Auto Zone ??

Well, it sold for $120. I started to bid on it, because I believe it would be a nice enhancement for my car, but felt like I need a little more education on carburetors before I spend that much money on one. Still , I guess thats a decent price for a Weber.

Anybody know the best cars to look for these carburetors on at the junkyard ? Is it possible to find good ones there? or as always, is it a matter of just getting lucky and finding one ??

If you do find one in a junker, then it'll likely need a rebuild.
Have you read that how-to for intalling a Weber yet?
Check on eBay for one?
Thats not a bad deal?
That much? A new Aisan carb from Toyota is $1500... I just spent $235 on a REBUILD of my stock carb.

I think http://www.howstuffworks.com has a writeup on the Venturi effect (how a carb puts fuel in the engine)
A carb really isn't very complex, well, just a carb. That bloody Aisan has a billion things hanging off of it >.<

Eatpants, I disagree with you. I don't need proof to show you my lack of agreement with you. Later on, 'ude.

Paradise racing sells the adapter plate for $40

Now you just have to find the carb....

It's listed for the 4ac though....should be the same, or close....
