It came out not half bad and surprisingly didn't rust away for another 5 years but that's probably due to it being almost 100% aluminium and bondo lol, He even sold it for $400. After I was done the car I was in love with it, It had 400,000 plus km never had any work done to it in it's life that I could see before I touched it and was abused daily for years yet never let the driver down once, the body, the simplicity of the car and it's reliability I liked everything about this car and I had to have one but I knew it had to be a good one, I had seen the cars at the wreckers and they all met the same fate, RUST! So for the next 4 or so years I hunted almost daily and saw many for sale but all of them had rust so I fought the instinct to buy them, The years went buy and there where less and less up for sale and they where in worse shape and the price only seemed to go up, Then one Friday night after consuming to much coffee I couldn't sleep so I went on my computer and started looking for cars online, I started on Castanet then looked at craigslist and at about 12 at night I was on Kijiji and was done looking I had gone about 6 days back when I refreshed page 1 and there it was 12 minutes old 4 views already I saw the photo's and it looked amazing $1200 was the asking price so I emailed him and texted him right away then went to bed. The next day after talking with Dave the seller he told me a fellow in Edmonton was offering $2000 if he would hold it until he could fly down but wouldn't wire the money so I was next in line, I asked what his bottom dollar was and said $700 if I could be there with cash the same day and I accepted the deal. I arrived in penticton that evening and was fully prepared for the car to look worse in person but was shocked to find it looked better than I could have ever dreamed it was spotless apart from some paint, Dave told me that it had been his late uncle's car since 1989 and that he simply didn't have the money to fix it and give it to his daughter like he had planned to do, he had taken it in to a mechanic who gave him a almost $2000 quote, I looked at the paper he was given and it was almost all labor cost $120 a shop hour! I knew I could do it for a fraction of the cost so I gave him the $700 and my gf drove it home as I couldn't drive stick yet lol. On the way home I drove behind it as the sun set over Okanogan lake and I'm not embarrassed to say almost cried it was a dream come true. Lot's of people dream of having a Lamborghini or super car but I dreamed of having a Tercel wagon and my dream had come true, it was honestly one of the happiest moment's of my life, I fully intend to have this car until I die even if I have to spend crazy money in order to make that happen.
