Rear hatch replacement

Hello, does anyone have a guide (or at least some advice) on how to replace the rear hatch? I have purchased one from another 1988 Tercel (same model and color as mine, so I am pretty lucky), but I have to go and get it myself.

removing the rear hatch is easy. remove the inside trim, unplug the various wires and pull them up and out, disconnect the rear window washer hose, unbolt the hatch, all done. installation is the same in reverse but it's more difficult to pull the wires and plugs down into the new hatch. what i have done for this is feed an extra 'guide wire' through the hatch so there is lots of extra hanging out at both the top and bottom. then when the hatch is in place, i fasten the guide wire around the wires and pull them through. sometimes they can still get hung up on the way through but with patience and a few tries you should get it.

Thanks for the explanation! I replaced it yesterday, had to use the guide wire as you mentioned, but other than that everything went smoothly
