If I had money I sure as heck would go >.<

I think it's likely a synchro problem. I asked the seller a ton of questions- if he gets back I'll post the answers.

This would be a great car to replace your crashed '86 ("The Blue"). I offset the frustration by imagining I have the car and I'm driving it home from PA. Well, maybe it doesn't work too well. I'm thinking it might reach $4k. Best bet for me would be to get a rusty '87-'88 SR5 and do a total restoration and I can have my dream car, basically brand new, except for the frame-metal wear of course and the speedometer with 300k+ miles.

If I could get a loan frommy parents from the bank, I will get it. I'm applying at McDonalds tomarrow (they have some positions open as far as I'm informed) and my folks may loan me $5000. If I can get a job in 8 days >.<

If I do rebuild Blue then I plan to repair any rust. If I have to, cut off the rust and slightly thicker plates professionally welded in place. If thats safe >.<

I bet it goes for over 5 grand. That's probably what the reserve is.

The Tercel is in the background of the middle picture.

You didn't need to scan the whole page. :)

I guess I miss-remembered the article, it's actually the "Toyota USA Vintage Vehicle Collection" in California. Semi-open to the public. But they hope to open a better public one in 2007.

Toyota's museum in Japan seems to have older stuff only:

Best of wishes then! Your sure are lucky; you won't have to worry about the bad MPG counts on your '84 anymore. Wow! Just imagine yourself in PA and driving a shiny two-tone paint Tercel to your house and the best part is that you'll be able to drive it to work at Mc Donalds.

Rebuilding your '86 would be a good idea-- you will have two Blue Tercels.

I'm just going to go dream of my future Tercel restoration shop... a place where rusty old Tercels come in and when they leave they are practically brand new, now that's what I'm talking about. Sort of what TLC does with the Land Cruisers.

I wish my parents loaned me some money to fix my "2 yr project" '83 before it goes to get crushed. And the sad part is that it has no collisions and it only has minor surface rust. I really want to restore it!! I want mine to look like the one in that picture that Inkyturbo scanned.

Well, I wasn't sure if you wanted some of the other stuff on the page or not, so I played it safe and scanned the whole page.

Well, can't just assume I'll get the job. If it happens then HECK YES.. If it doesn't... oh well.

Last night when I looked at it, farmocist was still in the lead at $4000. With 7 days 3 hours left at the time. Wow.

I'm in a similar situation right now... someone wanted to buy my '84 (I told my dad to tell him no) and I was searching for a Tercel for him and I came upon a sweeet '87 SR5. $1650 with 172k, 70k on the engine, maroon metallic color, and I got some hi res pictures on my e-mail. Heck, now I would get rid of both of them just to have this one. I'm going to start whining like a little baby...

EDIT:

I had to use smaller images because my bandwidth is gone from geocities.

Sorry! I am at college and I have a T1 or T3 connection (I can download at 3.5 mbps). I just realized right now that this is not a California car. It has an HAC valve and is missing the AS valve on the air cleaner.

I know how it is with a modem (33.6 or 28 kbps at home). Dagnabit! I want this car. I had an oportunity previously to buy an 88 SR5 red but a much brighter red, not metallic.

This car looks good just that it's missing the rear cargo cover. I don't know how I would compromise, either the guy buys it (my dad's co-worker), or I buy it (very unlikely), or neither of us buys it and I make holes in the wall for a day or so when I find out it has been sold.

Sorry as well for this off-topic message and the huge pics, it still has a little bit to do with the mint condition Tercel.

Our 87 was that color (must've been popular for the year)
That is until I sprayed paint thinner all over it in an act of 5-year-old idiocy. It now is just a hair darker. I like it. Now, I just need to get that damn thing running >.<
