put in some new rear wheel bearings

Post by jimcrazy »

swaped out the rear wheel bearings this morning, cheated a bit used a 6206 bearing and made up a 4mm spacer to go behind the bearing and made the new seal collar 4mm longer. the rumble sounded like the passenger side but the drivers side was the bad one.

what is a 6206 bearing and why did it require a spacer and longer collar?

the Toyota bearing has the inner race wider its 24mm wide the out race is 16mm wide. the spacer puts the bearing back in the same spot on the axle, same with the seal collar. I have done this on my other wagons before just never took pics, car quest or napa could not get the proper one so I would have had to order on line, this much simpler and 2 of the 6206 bearings were 16.00 bucks tax in for both
