I went to a place to get the system charged and the guy said that there was like 120 LBS in the system and that there should only be 60. He released some pressure, then put the freon in the lower filler thing. It gets a little cold, he said I need a new compressor. The compressor works, goes on, and cools the car somewhat. If there high pressure in the upper line, would that be the compressor? or something else??

I'd suspect the expansion valve. A bad one can cause some really strange readings, and can even cause the compressor to seize temporarily from a pressure build-up. A new one is about $30 at AutoZone, but you have to evacuate the system to install it.
