nice work, pordog. even your dog there looks pleased as punch about the car, judging by that wagging tail.

Looks very nice, great find and rescue.

looks like some cut the side marker lights off the composite lite set up to fit the 2wd head lights and grills. Now you have "franken-grill". I hope they were not good ones before they were cut up, those are really rare to find and it would be a shame if that is what happened. It would have been just as well to adapt the 2wd side marker lights to the 4wd front end clip.

Replacement composite lights and grills will be hard to find in North America, but likely you can find some of the more common headlights and 4wd grill for it. You might also consider getting the halogen replacement units for the sealed beam head lights, will kind of modernize the look of the front end and get brighter lights in the bargain. You might also consider at some point to make a new center grill section that incorporates some fog lights or bright driving lights, just to modify the front even more, and improve the looks.

pordog made the custom grill and lights intentionally to make use of what good parts he had, pete. read the rest of his threads.

that is a common spot for an oil leak. there is a gasket there that is easy to replace. remove the fuel pump and there it is.

The fuel pumps tend to leak 'through' the pump, not at the gasket. There's a small weep hole, similar to a water pump where the oil comes from. That's what ends up dripping on the heater hose.

Actually it I think fuel pump to leak because the head gets hot, yet the fuel pump has colder fuel from the fuel tank being circulated through it, so this temp difference is always putting stress on the gasket. I kept having the fuel pumps develop leaks no matter what I did. So it is important the plastic insulator be in place (some people too it when they replace the fuel pump), and to coat both sides of both paper gaskets with non-hardening gasket sealer such as Permatex. This will allow some movement without damage to the gaskets, it was the only thing that stopped my oil leak at the fuel pump. Never had much oil leak out the weep hole, mostly from a seeping gasket.
