generally looks nice but the decals on the side are kind of ugly.

I think it was the law in North America that those type of decals had to be placed on a minimum of 30% of cars sold between the late 80's through the 90's. If the car was a "sport" model, the decals were mandatory. I'm pretty sure it was a clause in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). It's intent was to spread radicall-ness throughout the continent as a way of commemorating the fall of communism.
