Carb replacement

i agree with tom. it seems like danzo had some bad luck with his weber for some reason but for all the other members here who have installed one, i can't recall anyone else having issues with poor running or fuel economy. if they were consistently troublesome, i can't imagine they would be as popular as they are with these cars.

they are not troublesome, I had no trouble with it, the carb is simple, reliable and easy to work on. They are easy to change the jets with the carb in the car: you just pull off a cover on the top and they are all exposed, takes less than a min to change them out.

I did do a search on this forum and found quite a few threads on what different jets people have used in the weber, and it appears that most of those that participated in the weber thread changed out their jets. Two does not make a majority. You never did a search because you did not have to, I think you and Tom got luckly. Perhaps it is the way they supplier inventories the weber; they have them jetted for different size engines, and if you are luckly enough to get the carb set up for a smaller engine, than you do not need to change the jets. All engines should get the same fuel air ratio, so if the flow volume is a going to be known (based on the engine displacement), than it is easy to get the jets close just knowing the engine size.

the carb that Danzo had, and many others on this forum, just did not come with the correct jets for this engine, so I changed them out and it ran perfectly. Jetted improperly for the engine they run badly.

It takes less time to change the jets than it takes to install a spark plug, or change a battery. No trouble at all (I wish all carbs would have done it this way).

if you search for 'weber jet size', the only threads you're going to find are ones where people had issues with them so of course it will seem like a common problem then. you have to also consider the posts by numerous other users like splatterdog, emmahumpfritter, arbskynxex, turtcel, dirtmagnet, and numerous other less active forum members --not just tom and myself -- who have stated having good experiences with their webers stock jets, and also all the people who have installed webers and not posted anything about them here since they've had no issues to troubleshoot.

Well - I told the vendor I lived in STL, which is around 600 feet above sea level, but my definite impression is that the rep just said "Uh, OK, sure."
As far as "and if you are lucky enough to get the carb set up for a smaller engine" - the K740 kit is intended to fit only Toy engines with a max of 1600CC. Obviously the 32/36 carb will fit other cars, but this particular kit is only for the aforementioned Toys (and not just because it has the adapter for the 3TC/3AC/4AC/4ALC manifold the Gen II Terc uses).

Buying a used Weber will, of course, be a pig-in-a-poke; one will not know which jets are installed without inspection.

I would love to try a weber but I've read a lot that they dislike extreme hot and cold temps, and we have both of those in this corner of New Mexico.
