Hubcap retaining clips 87' Wagon

Post by motorcity_rob »

Hi All, I'm new to the site and Tercels. Awesome site, has everything I hope to get done on my wagon.
I've searched all throughout Michigan and it appears any Tercel made in the 80's has been crushed. I'm trying to find those clips that fit into the rim and hold the center hupcaps on. I've tried ebay, no luck. The only seller on ebay to respond didn't have them. Has anyone out there have 4 extra they could sell me? Thanks.

Rob.

Oh, sorry. It's the kind on the front wheel of this picture. I'll get a better picture of it tonight when I get home. I also found a picture of the rim with the type of hubcap.

Alright, some later model wagons had a different looking hubcap. I don't think I have any but I'll look for you.

NOT enough information!!! there are at least three types of hub caps used on these cars, all look the same on the outside, what is different is how they attach to the wheel. they are not interchangeable. one type has three clips riveted to the center of the wheel and the hub cap has three slots that capture them on the back of the hub cap. another type has a kind of corregated metal ring that snags the inner lip of the hole at the center of the steel wheel, and another type has a big metal clip or ring that goes around the perimeter of the hub cap that pops into the indent on the wheel outside the bolt circle. None of these are interchangeable, you need to have the matching wheels that goes with each style. All look the same on the outside.

I have several of each type kicking around, you are welcome to them. but let me know which type and I will see if I can locate them. I do not care for the stock steel wheel, it is to narrow and flexy, so I always change out to an alloy wheel to improve handling.

Hi Petros. Sorry for lack of info, just getting started here. I attached pics of the rim and clips and hubcap. I might go with an alloy later, but for now I just want to get this on the road and running (and not looking to ghetto). I even found a part number for the clips (42618-32010) - of course no dealer in the country has them anymore.

If you have some. Message me price and I'll send you my address.

Thanks for checking as well irowiki.

If the clips are on the wheels themselves I may have one set on a spare tire.

Yeah, they pop into the wheel. Darn I didn't take a picture of that. But yeah, the clips attach to the wheels. Pop them out from the back of the rim. If you have 4 I'd be very grateful.

Oddly enough one of the hubcaps on my 83, instead of using those clips, had clips on the hubcap itself which attached into the center part of the wheel.

I'll check my spare of a spare tonight if I have a chance

I know I have at least one hub cap (that looks almost new) like that, not sure about the clips. I might have a extra wheel around that has them.

do you need just the clips, or both the hub caps and the clips?

I'd take the hubcap too, if it's in good shape. But I really need the clips.
