For a header I ended up with a Pace setter that worked out real well, for my 20v b/t, after some mods to the colector. If you read my post Larrys tercel gets a v20 black /top in the Gallery section you'll see what I did. looks GOOD. Larry

Thanks Larry.

The header I bought is an eBay SS two piece. We'll see how it fits, if not I'll have to use the factory manifold and get a custom downpipe made.

BOOM!

So hood clearance is an issue, need to figure out how to deal with that.

that is a great price on the header, it will not fit in the Tercel. It is made for the RWD corolla and the vertical distance from the exhaust port to clear the floor is less because it does not sit on top of the front diff. But, at that price, it is a great place to start. you just have to cut it and add some extension, and likely make it snake around the steering column (you should relocate the brake proportioning valve to get it away from the exhaust pipe). You may have to make a heat shield for the starter and the alternator as well.

Most have just put a hood scoop to add enough clearance to for the intake manifold. I have also heard of some that modify the passanger side enging mount to get the engine to rotate enough to clear the hood. Also, you can shim the cross memver down to lower the front mounts.

this is the same header that i tryed first with no luck at all. It was just wrong every where.it was too long comming out from the head ,the collector was totaly in the way of the steering shaft, thats why I used the pace setter, just like petros said above, Larry

So some interesting turn of events. It's not ready (yet), but it's getting very close.

We have fuel being delivered, running the fuel pump to a switched power. Just no spark. It might be an issue of where the ignition coil is grounded, going to tackle some more stuff this weekend and tackle some things with the wiring.

I found an eBay header (different from the style I have) from my buddies Corolla that fits. It needed to be cut, so I will need to:

1) Get a flange to space it out a half inch to clear the steering linkage, and even still it's VERY close.
http://www.sv3power.com/store/index.php ... cts_id=205

2) Have a custom downpipe an at exhaust shop make to go from 2-1. There was no way this would work with the factory exhaust manifold, otherwise a shop would have to make a 2-1 downpipe where each lead goes AROUND the linkage and puts it in the middle which is a task easier said than done

Also,

1) NO motor mounts because there was simply no clearance with the exhaust and hood clearance. It will be interesting to see how it is. I've had a few daily drivers with solid motor mounts so time will tell. One side actually has a rubber shim, one is bare. It might be rough but the goal is to get it running and driving and to work out the smaller details later

I do not understand the "no motor mounts". everyone else that has done this swap used the factory motor mounts. Do you mean the cast iron bracket on the side of the engine makes direct contact with the mount of the cross member? that would drop the engine about 1.5"? what about the oil pan? does it hit the cross member? I would think you want at least 1/2" clearance there.

Seems to me if you run that car with no mounts you will destroy all of that hard work you have put in :?:

Well, originally we had to shim the passenger side mount for hood clearance. Then we realized that the exhaust was going to be an issue as well. There IS some rubber where the original ones used to be, just not a lot compared to the original mounts.
