Been searching the internet high and low with no luck so far, so figured I'd post here just in case.
Need a pair of good rear springs for the FWD Wagon. Unsure if any other springs would work, rockauto specifically lists some rear springs as "excluding wagon".

Re: FWD Wagon rear springs
seems like a lot of rear springs for older toyotas are NLA--FWD tercel, 4wd tercel, and 4wd corolla. i want new springs for my corolla so i found a local spring shop and talked to them. they said if i bring in an old spring of what i want replaced, they can find a close enough match that is common and easily had. failing that, they just need the following measurements to find a match:
inside diameter
wire thickness
overall length installed
overall length when not installed
end style of spring - flat end or pig tail

dlb, did you ever get an estimate of the cost going that route? The rear end of Everett sags like crazy, so I may have to replace the springs too.

Re: FWD Wagon rear springs
i did but i can't remember what it was, marlene. i remember the shop said they could custom make new springs to match the old ones perfectly but that would cost in the ballpark of $500 for both springs. they said the other option was far more reasonable but the exact price just depended on how much the springs were that matched best. i believe it would be in the $100-$200 range for the pair.

Re: FWD Wagon rear springs
If that's the case I found springs on some random toyota parts site for $61 each but I need to find them again!

I remember Petros saying the AE86 Corolla has the same rear springs. Try that.

Re: FWD Wagon rear springs
I think that would be for the 4WD version?
The 2WD wagons like we have have different rear ends (ha)

Re: FWD Wagon rear springs
the RWD corolla has the same rear axle as the Tercel4wd, so the 4wd Tercel rear spring would be similar to the RWD corolla rear spring. In fact it might be more stiff if the car is heavier, but it may indeed be the same spring.
It will not work on the front wheel drive Tercel, these rear suspensions are completely different. if there are worn or broken parts it might cause them to sag even if the springs are good, or it could be fatiged springs. You have to remove them to know if it needs new springs or if there bushings, etc are shot and causing it to sag.
If your springs are sagging, there were spring shops that could take your sagging spring and re-heat treat it to restore its strength. Or you might just go through a wrecking yard looking for something about the same size and length to fit in the back. or if you want to go cheap, add the rubber "spring boosters" to the existing spring to restore the ride height.
