I can't believe how good these cars look slammed. I remember seeing your car in a post a while back with the steel wheels. beautiful!

Re: Terc delight
wondering if you ever got more information about the daystar product. looking to just get around and 1.5" lift on my terc front and rear and wondering if daystar makes a product that can fit our tercels. any other products out there to do the same thing other than the cutting board mod?

Re: Terc delight
Hey peculiarodor,
Daystar doesn't actually make a product for us.
The 1.5 spacer is actually designed to lift the front of a 2wd dodge truck.
But the dodge coil springs have the same diameter as the rear coil springs on our Tercels.
There are two things holding me back from buying these:
I'm not sure if I want to continue using my pathfinder coil springs for more lift and a firmer ride in the rear, and
I'm not positive that the center of the daystar pruduct will fit over the bumpstop and bumpstop tower. If you look up into the body where the top of the rear coil springs meets their seat, there is a pretty good sized bumpstop that the daystar would have to slide over.
if the daystar spacers works, it will only lift the rear,
Cutting boards will lift the front, but they kind of turned me away as well.
There are also some other ways to lift the front, using components from other vehicles. I don't really know all the details though on that.

Re: Terc delight
a complete front strut assembly off a '88 and newer Celica GTS or Corrolla all-trac has a larger dia dampener and stiffer springs, and 3/4" more travel, and can be made to fit by changing the top mount. Or you can use the same front spring from either car in the Tercel strut. It should give you about 3/4 to 1" front lift and give you a stiffer spring. You will want to use a stiffer spring in the rear however or you will get really heavy understeer. Most have used the Pathfinder springs in the rear, I have a set (and the front GTS struts) but have not installed them yet. I might cut a coil off the pathfinder spring so it does not lift it as much, but I want a slightly more firm ride to match the GTS struts up front.
You can also use air shocks in the back to adjust ride height.

Re: Terc delight
thanks for the info, guys. petros, if i wanted to get a 1.5" lift front and rear what method/combination would you recommend. ie: if YOU were going to do this to YOUR car, how would you go about getting an 1.5" lift over stock in the front and how would you get it in the rear? would you want to sell your pathfinder springs and GTS struts if you don't plan to use them?

Re: Terc delight
Thanks so much Petros.
I've been reading threads, but I never quite understood what everyone was doing for the front. until now.
Sweet! there's an 89 all-trac in the JY right now. maybe I'll go down next weekend and grab the struts.

Re: Terc delight
some have put front camary springs in the front of their Tercel4wd, but that is a mistake. they have a lower rate (for a soft riding luxury feel of the camry), but are longer so they lift the car up. but the struts are near the top of their travel so when they top out the seal gets damaged. new inserts get wiped out in a matter of weeks. not a good idea. The angle on the front CV joints also cases new cv axles to get toasted in six months.
you want to set it up so the strut travel is about in the middle when the car is resting on them with normal weight/cargo is in the car.

I hope you didn't replace the motor because of a bad plug wire?

Re: Terc delight
I guess I had my unit on the wrong range setting..200 instead of 200k.. oops. The cap might of been bad on the plug. I pulled the spark plug out from the #1 cylinder and it's carbon black. So it is sparking.... How come I'm not seeing any noticeable difference when I pull the plug at idle? maybe it is running on all four?

Re: Terc delight
Have you driven the car yet!
They are under powered cars in the first place
The one I just got from over the hill is running on three it has little to no power unless i spin it up to 4500 plus rpm even then it's weak.
