I was just reading your thread about switching to the 2wd. This car sounds like it has your name on it!!!!

here's the story on it. the guy's daughter ran it out of coolant and overheated it, warping the head. the dad pulled the head, took it to a local shop who milled and rebuilt it. the dad put it back on and then had another shop do the timing belt. the car started and ran fine so right away, the daughter took it for a fairly big road trip. in the middle of the trip, it started missing badly on idle and lacking some power. she got home and dad took a look again. the compression was like 115, 40, 125, 25. the daughter kept driving it in town like that for a few weeks until she found a new car, and that's where it's currently at. i figured if it was a head gasket or valve problem, i would fix it up for a friend, but those compression #s are pretty grim and might indicate the rings are marginal, or even done for, and i don't have a way to pull an engine here, so i think i'm going to pass on it. hopefully someone else here jumps on it though.
