is it just me or is that steering wheel meant to look like toyota's old 'T' logo?

nik, is that a CB radio below the stereo? i can't think of anything else that would use that style of plug.

Yep, CB. Just got it and the stereo installed last weekend. First time the car has had a sereo in 4 years. Figured while I was intsalling the stereo I'd install the CB.
The CB is the first of the expedition gear for the car. Slowly but searly she's getting outfitted. I still need to get a mount for the antenna made up.

Yep, When I came across the older Tercel in the junk yard, I saw that symbol on the wheel and had to have it lol.

no, i mean the 3 thin spokes of the wheel. they make it look like the the 'T' logo that was found on the hood ornament of some of the early 4wd wagons.

we also had the bird head tercel logo on the steering wheels of the 83/84 sr5s up here in canada, as well as on the 1st gens.

Never thought about the T before. Makes me like the wheel even more now that I see it.

I had not noticed before, but it also looks like that wheel has a leather cover on it. I do not care for that style much (looks very dated), though it is a good improvement over that ugly steering wheel we got in the United States, with the leather cover I could really enjoy driving with it.

I hate long drives with a plastic steering wheel in my hands, and the old plastic wheel covers are not much of an improvement. Cloth covers are better, but by far leather feels nice in the hand, breaths so it does not feel slippery and never gets too hot from being in the sun.

SirNik, Where'd you find the Dash Cover with the Clinometer pop up?

I ordered it direct from DashMat.

If you go through the year-make-model... I then choose SR5 as a sub-model, then it asked if you have the inclinometer.

I love the leather steering wheel, but I had to do a few mods to make the turn signal "off" work properly. Otherwise you have to get in the habit of turning off the turn signal manually or risk looking like a clueless geezer driving around with the signal blinking.
Hi Petros,

Did you have to do any mods to keep a functional horn? Attached is a photo comparing a wheel supposedly from an AE92 Corolla SR5 to my tercel on the bottom.

as I recall I was able to make the slider contact work on the corolla ring contact.

the problem with the one I had was the index holes for the ring with the pins on it to turn off the signal after you active it (and return the wheel to center) was 90 degrees off for some reason. so I drilled another set of holes in it for the plastic ring to index into.

but the spline lined up just fine. the GTS wheel has less "dish" so the turn indicator is closer to the steering wheel, but I soon got used to that.
