Hello everyone

Post by blakesmith90 »

Hello everyone my parents had a 84 tercel wagon 2wd back when i was a kid...back then i was not a big fan of it but it did keep running until they didnt realize the alternator/water pump belt had broken until there was smoke clouds and the battery was dying. by the time we got to the next freeway exit the battery was dead and the motor had seized :(. and that was the end of our tercel.

well recently ive been wanting something with 4WD for some fun. came across a couple youtube videos of the 4wd Tercel wagons and knew right then and there it would be my next project.

so i thought i would join here and learn more about them. so far from what ive read im glad there pretty simple and easy to work on!

i dont have one yet but im hoping to save up enough by spring :)

i currently have a 88 CRX HF that i got as a shell and now is a running driving car. i need to do some wiring to pass smog. but we all know a CRX can not off road haha

since thats not smogged im driving my parents 95 civic that ive pretty much replaced every single part on it lol. including the engine multiple times...(i think the car is cursed !)

anyhow i know hondas like the back of my hand. new to toyotas so thought i would join up and be well prepared by the time i get one

Welcome to the club, Blake! Sounds like you've done quite a bit of wrenching which will serve you well in T4 ownership. Where do you live? This will dramatically effect the Tercel choices open to you.
It's a scientific fact that in a twin engine aircraft, when one engine fails there is always enough power in the remaining engine to make it all the way to the crash site.

welcome to the list.

I also have extensive experiance with honda cars, you will find the Tercel a lot easier to work on, somewhat more durable and the parts are cheaper too. Although honda makes a fine car, I have switched to wanting to own nothing but Toyotas because doing all my own maintenance, I find the easier access, and lower cost parts something very desirable.

You came to the right place! Now we have to find you a Tercel4wd. looking for a fixer, daily driver, or the rare low miles perfect specimen?

Where do you live?

Thanks. im definitely looking forward to working on a tercel. ive heard you and a couple others on here mention they are easier to work on then hondas. and ive found for the most part hondas are pretty easy to work on . so i have a feeling ill allways be under the hood of a tercel even if nothing needs fixing

im looking for a fixer upper / daily driver... doesn't have to even be running (however a hole in the block or trans may cause trouble as theses are hard to find in the junkyards out here. but a blown head gasket, bad tbelt, carb , clutch etc would be fine ^_^

right in-between Bakersfield and Mojave ca
