Liquid sealant advice

I managed to break one of the ports on my TVSV. I tried some JB weld, but it didn't hold. My local Toyota dealer claimed that the part was discontinued too. Is that true? However, I was able to find two at my local junkyard in Chevy Novas (they were free!). I'm planning on testing them to make sure they work before I install them, but after reading the FSM I remembered that I have never done any real auto part installation before (just bolt on stuff that didn't involve any liquids) and don't know what to use when liquid sealant is called for. What do you use? Thanks.

i haven't used any sealant when reinstalling TVSV's in the past and haven't had any problems, but you could use teflon tape.

btw, i love the TVSV test. it's fun getting the water heated to the correct temp and then blowing through ports and checking to make sure it's coming out of other ports. so simple, so perfect.

TVSVs use a tapered pipe thread. They should only require being an 1/8 turn or so past hand tight. If you're paranoid, a bit of Toyota FIPG or black RTV sealant should work.
