Notice it says if the car will not idle to check the idle fuel cut off solenoid first. which is exactly the problem with your car.

The article makes an error, this carb is not just used on the Tercel, but also on the 4ac equipped Corolla, and a very similar but larger carb is also used on the 4cyl pickup trucks, and a variation of it on the third gen Tercel with the 3E engine. All of the info here should apply to these models as well.

Thanks for that pdf, maybe I can improve the idle on my '83 Tercel.
