Dead Tercel

Post by wikkedGTS »

It almost brought tears to my eyes to have seen this car crushed like this and not be able to salvage anything. Problem with this scrap yard is that for anything older than 20 years they only keep for 2 weeks and in aseparate area with no access to people and then they just crush them. Bastards!!

wow, that is really wasteful. maybe it makes sense to them financially if people don't regularly pull from the 20+ yr old vehicles. the space in the yard taken up by the oldies could probably yield higher profits with newer cars and trucks but i don't know. regardless, it's an absolute waste of perfectly useful stuff and that kills me.

Now that is just RUDE.

Here I am, in the land of the extinct, desperately seeking parts and they go and do THAT.
Why would someone even send it there.
How very sad.

I have a Jag sitting around that is looking for a new owner, and while I could REALLY use the money I spend on storage, I just can't sentence it to a similar fate.
It is far to good to end up THAT way.

Those transmissions are worth $250-400! They are idiots.

Tell me about it. I know someone who is readying a Terc (out of two cars) for a bloody crash up derby! Can you imagine? A freakin' derby! I wish I could pull some 'Gone in 60 Seconds' kind of action on the freak...

What makes him think an old econobox is going to be a survivor in a demo derby? He should find some old detroit battle wagon, much heavier and will last longer.

I hope it is not a 4wd Tercel, he can smash all of the old 2wd ones he wants, but I can not see them lasting very long against larger and heavier cars.

A seller not far from me, in Belleville, IL, did just a thing back in 2009. The car only had 154K miles. Both Mootsman and I were interested, but the seller just did not want to wait at all. I sent him several followup emails (was it crushed afterwards/did he still have it for salvageable parts/etc., but he never answered my messages.
Sad.
