Another Tercel/Cross Country Tip pics..

Post by dcn »

For my dad at least, he picked this one up a few days ago. Bad pic on my phone, but if you can't see it it has a pretty large cowl on the hood. Oh and it's green as heck  That's our shadows above the door trim, not a bad paint job.

Sure did! You're not suggesting we'd paint it like that I hope? (Not that there's anything wrong with that :D )... I thought it might have been a forum car at one point because I knew there was a green one on here but I guess it's a different terc. Plan is to paint it a more subdued color, so it won't look like this for much longer.

Did the whole pix show up for everyone? All I got was from the A pillar to the C pillar. I had to download it to my monitor and then open it to see the whole car.
Is it an SR5? Odometer?
That is GREEN!

I noticed that last night, Arch, I had to do the same thing on my phone to see the whole pic. It's not and SR5, no tach, narrow door trim, but the last owner had a NASCAR style giant tach on the frame around the gauges, you can still see the holes from the screws. Dads gonna put an SR5 inst panel in it pretty quick.

Pics from a much more capable cam will follow today at some point.

Edit: Here they are!

Here's a shot of the big bad cowl in daylight using a real camera:

Told yas it was green!:

Side pipes for awesomeness ;) They're welded to the car. You can stand on 'em!

I may have mentioned it before, but mom and dad took a trip across Canada, from coast to coast, in dad's first/main Tercel, the light blue 84, this summer. There's about 5000 pics to choose from, many of Tercs and other old Toyotas scattered across the continent. They even found some member's Tercs in BC! I blurred plates where applicable in case you're not into having them online. Dad was hoping to run into someone we know from here but didn't. Did get pics of a few cars though! Man dlb, I can see your suspicions now, someone ripped off your style!:

It had 685,000 on it when they left Nova Scotia, and turned 700,000 during the trip:

WOW - that 700K km is 435K miles! Must be the highest of our Tercs!

Your new car - sure seems like a lot of trouble to go through for the PO to have added the hood and pipes for certainly a minimal return - and I'd imagine it certainly got its share of suppressed giggles and derisive snorts.
Well, at least there is not a coffee-can extension on the tail pipe. And he installed TWO pipes? The left side one was a dummy, right? Or did he split the exhaust after the cat to run twin pipes? Amazing!

Good question. I think it's just the one pipe. I don't have any shots of the driver's side but I think it's just the pax. I have no idea why they'd do the hood that way. Dad's got a tarp over the air cleaner, etc. to keep the rain and eventually snow out. The car's actually in pretty good shape structurally, it came from Saskatchewan, lived in Quebec for a bit and is now in NS obviously. It had been inspected and rust proofed as recently as 2007. Dad's going to turn it into a plow to make clearing the driveway easier/more fun. The car that's covered in the background is a 1990-ish Corolla (like his red one except destroyed) that he was going to convert to a plow until this Tercel came along.

oh man, someone definitely drew a little inspiration from me. wild. i can't believe your dad saw my car! i showed my wife the pics and we figured out that she was driving that day. we can tell because the sun roof is open and i NEVER leave it up unattended. i also gave her a fair thrashing for doing so since i'm paranoid about rain damage. too bad because i would have loved to chatted with your pops. did he notice the adjustable intermittent wiper controls?? he was the father of that mod so i hope so!

with that many km on his tercel, your dad should contact toyota. i remember one member on here getting a free paint job from ford after achieving so many miles on a truck. worth a shot!

I wonder where that hood came from, did the PO make it, or was it adapted from something else? That would make fitting the 4age easier since it would clear the intake manifold.

All it does for the current mill is let the rain on it when you're parked. Too bad you don't live closer since I think it's getting swapped out ASAP. I think it's a home made job, from what I remember it's not too bad either. Oh the car also has lights in the interior that flash to the beat of the music, you could probably get those thrown in for free :)

OH WOW - OH WOW - OH WOW ! ! !
That is SO mine! Wonder how it would flash to Little Richard or Fats Domino or STL's own Chuck Berry ...

Yeah it's too bad you guys are so far away cause it would be great to meet you. On the other hand it's great to have no competition for parts, muhahahahaha.. When my bro saw that green Terc last year i knew it was only a matter of time until we owned it ;)
